Alison Hammond, host of the British morning show "This Morning," was hospitalized after she appeared to have a health scare during a live broadcast.
Hammond, 51, was live on air Friday, Oct. 2, when she appeared to clutch her chest, according to the BBC, which noted she was assisted off the set by cohost Dermot O'Leary. He later told viewers Hammond was "feeling a little unwell."
The "Great British Bake Off" cohost shared a health update from a hospital bed via her Instagram story later that day. "Anything to have the day off," she captioned the video lightheartedly.
"Hello, my lovelies. I know you're all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine, first of all, but I'm getting my little ticker checked out," she said, referring to her heart.
Hammond
then began rubbing her chest, explaining she was "having a little bit of a palpitation. And now I'm getting it all checked out, but I think I'm OK. I'm hoping it was just a little panic attack or something like that."

In rare cases, heart palpitations can be caused by heart conditions that result in fainting, cardiac arrest, stroke or heart failure; however, they are usually harmless, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Hammond shared gratitude for the kind messages viewers sent amid her absence.
"Hopefully I'm going to be all right. I'm so sorry I left you. I would never normally do that. I would never leave a TV show, so you know I wasn't very well," she said, noting she was still wearing her makeup from the show. "Everything is fine, look. I'm rocking it. Look how good I look."
Hammond is a former "Big Brother UK" contestant who has become a familiar face on morning television in the United Kingdom since she began cohosting "This Morning" on Fridays in 2021. She has cohosted "The Great British Bake Off" with Noel Fielding since 2023.
