As the final full month of the 2026 women's college soccer regular season continues, so does the push for a spot in the NCAA tournament and a run at a College Cup (and maybe even a national championship).
No. 1 North Carolina, the sport's runaway all-time leader in national championships, continued its winning ways with a 4-1 thrashing of No. 12 Notre Dame in its lone game last week. With the win, the Tar Heels improved to 11-1 with a road match against reigning national champion Florida State looming on Friday, Oct. 9.
Just behind North Carolina, No. 2 Michigan State continued its winning ways since a Sept. 20 loss against rival Michigan, going
on the road to defeat Illinois last week. No. 3 Vanderbilt remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win against Kentucky while No. 4 Wake Forest and No. 5 Alabama both won, as well, defeating NC State and Mississippi, respectively.
Elsewhere, No. 6 Duke continued a recent frustration-filled run with a 1-1 tie against Cal to move its record to 6-1-4. The Blue Devils have gone four-consecutive matches without a win, a stretch in which they've gone 0-1-3.
