After a successful start to the season, Chelsea has made several changes for its Carabao Cup game against Luton Town on Thursday, Aug. 27.
But the biggest lineup note surrounds the absence of Enzo Fernández, who did not make the squad amid links with a move to Manchester City.
Speaking ahead of the Luton match, Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso said he was planning for the Argentine to be with his squad.
Chelsea began the Alonso era with a win, defeating Fulham 3-2 in its Premier League opener on Monday, Aug. 24.
Now the Blues will return home to face League One opposition in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
With one eye on Sunday’s home Premier League match against Brighton, Alonso was expected to rotate his side heavily against Luton, but the
Spaniard has started several mainstays including Reece James, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.
