When the Dallas Wings travel to Indianapolis to compete against the Indiana Fever on Friday, Aug. 14, the last four No. 1 overall WNBA draft picks will all be under the same roof at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Fever, led by Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, the first overall draft picks of the 2023 and 2024 WNBA Draft, will face the Wings, anchored by Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd
, the first picks of the 2025 and 2026 draft.The Fever and Wings made WNBA history the last time they met back on May 9, with both teams scoring 100 or more points in a season opener for the first time in the Wings' 107-104 road victory.
The Wings opened the season with a 18-9 record, surpassing last year's win mark (10) by the All-Star break. But Dallas has stumbled on hard
times since, with a 2-5 record since the second half of the season resumed. The Wings will have to find their groove without starters Azzi Fudd (right knee) and Jessica Shepard (right ankle), who were ruled out for Friday's matchup against the Fever.
Meanwhile, the surging Fever have gone 4-2 since the All-Star break, scoring 100 or more points in four games during that stretch.

Following a slow start by the Fever and Wings on Friday, the highly-anticipated showdown between Caitlin Clark and Paige Buckers materialized in the third quarter. The Wings have a three-point lead over the Fever heading into the fourth quarter following a back-and-forth affair.
Bueckers scored 13 of her 25 points in the third quarter. She's shooting 10-of-19 from the field and 2-of-6 from the 3-point line in 27 minutes, rounding out her stat line with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Clark scored 17 of her 26 points in the third quarter. She's shooting 10-of-16 from the floor and 1-of-6 from the 3-point line. Clark has six of the Fever's seven assists, in addition to three rebounds and one steal.

Caitlin Clark returns after injury scare
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark exited Friday's matchup against the Dallas Wings right before halftime after appearing to twist her left ankle, but fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse let out a sigh of relief after she returned for the second half.
With less than one minute remaining in the second quarter, Clark stepped on the foot of Wings forward Alysha Clark and turned her left ankle. Clark grimaced and struggled to put weight on her left ankle. She fought to stay in the possession and limped back to the locker room when play was stopped with 40.4 seconds remaining.
However, the Fever weren't without Clark long. She was back on the court to start the third quarter.

After a slow start, both offenses started to find their rhythm in the second quarter.
Paige Bueckers has a game-high 12 points, in addition to three rebounds and two assists. Odyssey Sims is up to 11 points, while Awak Kuier is doing a little bit of everything with seven points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Arike Ogunbowale has as many points (3) as personal fouls (3) in 15 minutes.
No Fever player has reached double-digits yet. Caitlin Clark has a team-high nine points for the Fever, shooting 3-of-7 from the field and 0-of-4 from the 3-point line. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell each added six points.

Before the halftime buzzer rang, Clark limped back to the locker room after appearing to twist her left ankle stepping on the foot of Wings forward Alysha Clark with about 50 seconds remaining in the first half.

Awak Kuier blocks Aliyah Boston
Fever guard Caitlin Clark found her teammate Aliyah Boston under the basket on a bounce pass, but Boston was denied at the rim. Dallas forward Awak Kuier blocked Boston's layup attempt with 5:42 remaining in the second quarter as the Fever led 28-23.

Friday’s matchup between the Fever and Wings features two of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, yet both squads combined for just 32 points in the first quarter.
The Fever have a two-point lead heading into the second quarter, despite a wonky first quarter where they shot 1-of-7 from the 3-point line. Kelsey Mitchell has a team-high six points, while Makayla Timpson added four points. Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark each have two points.
Wings guard Paige Bueckers scored a game-high eight points and has three rebounds. Alanna Smith added four points in her 13th start of the season. The Wings are scoreless from the 3-point line, shooing 0-of-5 from 3.

It’s been a low-scoring affair so far as the Fever and Wings both struggle to find their offensive rhythm. The Wings are 2-of-8 from the field with three turnovers with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter, while the Fever aren’t doing much better, shooting 3-of-11 from the floor. Is Azzi Fudd playing today?
Wings rookie Azzi Fudd is set to miss her fourth consecutive game with a right knee injury. During a pregame press conference on Friday, Wings head coach Jose Fernandez said Fudd is "progressing."
"Azzi (Fudd) went through shootaround today," Fernandez said. "As this road trip continues and we get back to (face) Indiana at home (on Aug. 20), we'll see how our medical team and our strength and conditioning folks continue to evaluate Azzi in her return to play protocol."
Caitlin Clark defends Fever coach Stephanie White after boos
Indiana Fever All-Star guard Caitlin Clark publicly backed Stephanie White after Indiana's second-year head coach was booed on the team's home court at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The boo birds rained down on White ahead of a 106-92 win over the New York Liberty, which marked the Fever's first game since DiJonai Carrington's hard foul on Sophie Cunningham and subsequent "White Privilege" post Aug. 8 reignited conversations about player safety and race. Some Fever fans felt White didn’t adequately defend Cunningham, with Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith going as far as calling for White to be fired.
"I told (Stephanie White) that before the game, there was no way we were losing this game for her. And it's tough. That's my head coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made me a little sick, to be honest," Clark said in her postgame remarks. Read her full remarks here.
Dallas Wings sign Christyn Williams
The Dallas Wings announced on Friday, Aug. 14, that they had signed Christyn Williams to a developmental contract. Williams, who played her college ball at UConn, joins Indiana Fever forward Michelle Onyiah as players to make the jump from the Upshot to the WNBA.
Williams played at UConn from 2018 through 2022 and starred alongside Paige Bueckers in the backcourt for her final two seasons with the Huskies, going to the Final Four in both of those seasons. She also played one year with Azzi Fudd, and Williams will now reunite with both former Huskies teammates in Dallas. Full story here.

Stephanie White condemns online vitriol toward Fever
Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White spent her pregame press conference Tuesday denouncing "the hate, the fear mongering (and) the divisiveness" hijacking the WNBA, vitriol that reached a boiling point over the weekend after DiJonai Carrington committed a hard foul against Sophie Cunningham.
"It's a shame we can't have an opportunity to talk about what great basketball they're playing because they are (expletive) playing," White said during an impassioned speech ahead of the Fever's game against the New York Liberty. "We are united. We are connected. We will not be divided. Every day these women put their ass on the line. Every day. When they go low, we go high. Love will win. Grace will win. Caitlin Clark stats
The 6-foot guard is averaging career-highs in points (21.7), field-goal percentage (44.3%) and 3-point percentage (36.1%), and her 8.2 assists per game is tied with Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas for the most in the league. Clark has scored double-digits in all but two games this season, including a 45-point, 10-assist performance in the Fever's win over the Seattle Storm on July 17. That same game, Clark reached 200 career 3-pointers, hitting the milestone in 74 games, faster than any player. She holds the recored for most career 20-point, 10-assist games with 19, more than any franchise in WNBA history.
Kelsey Mitchell stats
In her ninth season, the Fever's all-time leading scorer is averaging a career-high 24.3 points per game, which ranks second in the league behind A'ja Wilson, while shooting 50.9% from the field and 44.5% from the 3-point line. Mitchell has scored 20 or more points in 17 consecutive games, marking the longest scoring streak in a single WNBA season. The Ohio State product ranks second in the league in total points (803), made field goals (283) and is fourth in made 3-pointers (97).
Paige Bueckers stats
The 2025 reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year is having a strong sophomore campaign, averaging career-highs in points per game (20.2), assists (5.8) and rebounds (4.1) per game through 32 starts, all while shooting 50.6% from the floor and 38.6% from the 3-point line. Bueckers became the fastest player in WNBA history to hit 1,000 points and 250 assists in June. The 24-year-old UConn product has led the Wings' turnaround season, and the team's 19 victories already surpasses last year's total (10) win mark.
