An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and injured a man in North Austin on Sept. 20, officials say.
The man who was injured in the shooting was identified as Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, 28, of Venezuela, by Austin immigration lawyer Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, who said she was hired to represent him.

What happened in Austin, Texas?
At a news conference in Austin on the afternoon of Sept. 20, city officials said the shooting occurred around 12:56 p.m. local time.
A man, whom city officials did not identify, was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition with one gunshot wound,according to previous USA TODAY reporting.
Austin Police Chief Lisa Davi said the man was shot after a "small foot pursuit"
and that the department was in contact with the Department of Homeland Security and other state law enforcement agencies.
Austin Mayor Kirk Watson confirmed that local police were not involved in the operation that led to the shooting. However, Watson said he wants an independent investigation into the shooting so the city's residents know what happened and why.
Where is Garces Perez located?
In a social media postSunday night, Lincoln-Goldfinch said she still has not been able to locate Garces Perez in the ICE system or speak with him.
"I have now seen photographs showing a gunshot wound behind his neck. I have seen video from the incident. I want to see the body-camera footage. I want to know exactly what happened before an ICE officer fired a weapon," Lincoln-Goldfinch said in a statement.
The BBC and Texas Tribune have reported officials saying that Garces Perez was shot in the torso/upper torso.
DHS said in a statement Sunday night that Garces Perez's "condition is stable, and he is in federal custody pending removal."
