Rosanne Cash is stepping away from the stage temporarily after an "unexpected medical emergency" forced her to postpone three upcoming shows.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter's management announced the postponements Sept. 7 in a statement shared on Cash's Instagram account.
"Rosanne Cash must postpone her performances due to an unexpected medical emergency," the statement said. "She is recovering under her doctors' supervision, who have recommended a temporary restriction on travel and performing."
Further details about the nature of the medical emergency were not disclosed. The statement further added that Cash, 71, "deeply regrets the cancellation and looks forward to rescheduling the appearances."

The restrictions affect three shows Cash was scheduled to perform with her husband and longtime musical collaborator, John Leventhal. The postponed dates include a Sept. 8 performance at the WYO Performing Arts Center in Sheridan, Wyoming; a Sept. 9 appearance at the Alberta Bair Theater in Billings, Montana; and a Sept. 12 concert at Tinworks Art in Bozeman, Montana.
New dates for the three concerts have not been announced. Cash's management did not indicate whether any additional performances could be affected.
According to her current tour schedule, Cash is next set to appear Sept. 19 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the 4th annual Sunken Lands Songwriting Circle. She also has a series of European performances scheduled in October, followed by a Nov. 9 concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and California dates in January 2027.
Cash, the eldest daughter of late country music legend Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto, has built a decades-long career spanning country, folk, pop and Americana music.
She broke through commercially with her 1981 album "Seven Year Ache," whose title track became one of her signature songs. Cash has earned four Grammy Awards, including three for her 2014 album "The River & the Thread" and its song "A Feather's Not a Bird."
The singer was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015. In addition to her recording career, she is an author whose work includes the 2010 memoir "Composed."
