Christopher Aaron Nicks, brother of rock icon Stevie Nicks, has died. He was 72.
The Fleetwood Mac singer's younger brother − her only sibling − died following a private battle with cancer, Christopher Nicks' daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks, revealed in an Instagram post Friday, Sept. 4.
"Second star to the right, and straight on till morning," Nixi Nicks wrote alongside a photo of herself holding Christopher's hand. "I love you, daddy. Rest easy."
Nixi Nicks opened up about her father's health issues in a Facebook post.
"Some of you may know that he has spent the last two-and-a-half years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock," Nixi Nicks wrote. "If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people
to worry about him that he kept this to himself. I know that he has left his mark on so many people, and this will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing."
USA TODAY has reached out to Stevie Nicks' representatives for comment.
Five years Stevie Nicks' junior, Christopher Nicks played a supportive role in the Grammy-winning singer's career. In 1985, Christopher cowrote "The Nightmare," a song featured on Stevie's third solo album, "Rock a Little."
Additionally, Christopher's wife, Lori Perry, served as a backup singer for Stevie Nicks.
Stevie Nicks' Fleetwood Mac bandmate Mick Fleetwood paid tribute to Christopher Nicks in an emotional Instagram post, which featured a black-and-white throwback photo of the brother-sister pair.
"The passing of Chris Nicks has brought so many memories of his amazing life," Fleetwood wrote. "Much of course was shared connected to Fleetwood Mac. His zest for life will be a forever beacon of inspiration!! Chris, you will be missed by me and, I know, the family of Fleetwood Mac. Peace and love."
Stevie Nicks reflected on her bond with Christopher Nicks during a November 2018 concert in Phoenix, as she performed her classic '70s ballad, "Landslide."
"I would like to dedicate this song to someone who no matter what our problems are or how much we fight or what comes between us, he always has my back, my brother, Christopher Nicks," Nicks said.
