A surprisingly fun holiday crossover is bringing together MoonPie, Jimmy Stewart and one of the most memorable moments from “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

MoonPie has created a limited-edition 12-count box of its classic chocolate snack cakes in conjunction with “Jimmy,” the new biographical drama starring KJ Apa as Jimmy Stewart. The packaging is called “Lasso the Moon,” a nod to Stewart’s famous George Bailey scene in the classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” according to the brand.
And there's a charitable connection: A portion of proceeds from sales of the commemorative boxes will go to the USO. The organization supports service members and military families, including through care packages, snacks and refreshments for deployed troops.
Where to buy the limited-edition MoonPie box
According to MoonPie, shoppers can look for the 12-count 'Lasso the Moon' boxes at lassothemoonpie.com, Food City, Ingles and select grocery retailers nationwide while supplies last.
The company's online shop also sells MoonPies, apparel and gifts.

What is the new Jimmy Stewart movie about?

“Jimmy” follows Jimmy Stewart during a pivotal period stretching from his Hollywood success through his World War II military service and return to acting.
The movie stars KJ Apa as Stewart and is directed by Aaron Burns. The official trailer describes Stewart's journey from Hollywood star to combat pilot and says he flew 20 missions over Europe before returning home and eventually playing George Bailey in “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
The movie is scheduled to release on Nov. 6, according to its official trailer and movie website.
There's also a nice connection for snack-food fans: According to the brand, vintage MoonPie packaging appears in the film to help recreate Stewart's World War II-era world.
