LSU men's and women's basketball will appear remotely for SEC Tip-Off on Tuesday, Oct. 13, due to weather, the school announced.
The SEC Tip-Off is the conference's official preseason media event in Birmingham, Alabama, where coaches and players talk with reporters to kick off the season. While the other 15 teams will appear in person at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, LSU coaches Kim Mulkey and Will Wade won't attend.
Fog is the culprit for LSU's travel issues, both teams said. There are no storms or rain in the forecast for either Baton Rouge, Louisiana, or Birmingham, Alabama, for Oct. 13.
Due to inclement weather, we are no longer able to attend SEC Tip-Off

Wade was previously scheduled to meet with media at 10:35 a.m. ET, whereas Mulkey was to talk at 11:35 a.m. ET. Wade was slated to bring guard Abdi Bashir Jr. and forward Mo Dioubate, with Mulkey bringing Mikaylah Williams, MiLaysia Fulwiley and ZaKiyah Johnson.
There are plenty of storylines around LSU men's basketball and Wade, who's in his first season with the program of his second tenure after previously being fired by the program after the 2022 season due to recruiting violations.
The LSU roster has 10 players officially listed on it as the team is working around numerous eligibility situations, including former Big East Player of the Year RJ Luis, who previously signed NBA contracts with the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics.
Mulkey, meanwhile, has also had quite the offseason. Returning Ukrainian center Kate Koval left the team after LSU signed Russian transfer Anna Minaeva. Koval, whose dad serves in the Ukraine military, was uncomfortable sharing a team with a Russian player amid the two countries' conflict after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
LSU women's basketball was picked to finish third in the conference, whereas the men's team was picked 14th amid its roster uncertainty.
