"Below Deck Mediterranean" star Captain Sandy Yawn is breaking her silence after cast member Nathan Gallagher's arrest and conviction on domestic violence-related charges.
Yawn saidshe hopes Gallagher will "face everything that he's done" in comments to Page Six on Oct. 13.
"Nathan struggles," Yawn told the outlet. "We talk, and I encourage him to stop drinking and get help, and that's what he's doing right now."
She said Gallagher has "stopped drinking, he's going to meetings, and he's trying to change his life."
The superyacht captain worked with Gallagher on the three most recent seasons of "Below Deck Mediterranean."
In September, Gallagher was convicted on charges of assault and choking stemming from a December 2025 arrest. He is facing a warrant
for his arrest after failing to appear for his court hearing, a representative for New South Wales Courts confirmed to USA TODAY last month.

'Below Deck' star Nathan Gallagher's arrest and conviction
Gallagher was arrested in December 2025 in an alleged domestic violence incident in Australia.
The alleged victim was not identified, but court records show his former girlfriend, fellow "Below Deck Mediterranean" star Gael Cameron filed an Apprehended Violence Application seeking protection from him.
An Apprehended Violence Application seeks a court order to protect an individual from someone they fear may harm them, according to the New South Wales Local Court.
In an Aug. 26 statement to Rolling Stone, Gallagher said, "I don't believe the public has heard the full story surrounding what happened," calling it "an extremely complicated situation."
Nathan Gallagher and Gael Cameron's relationship timeline

Gallagher and Cameron met while both were appearing on "Below Deck Mediterranean" Season 9, which aired in 2024. They have a son, Kayden, who is now 1.
Both Gallagher and Cameron appeared on the show's tenth and eleventh seasons, the latter of which filmed last year before Gallagher's arrest and finished airing this month. Yawn was the captain on all three seasons.
On Season 11, Gallagher worked as the bosun on superyacht Akira One based in Croatia. Cameron appeared on several episodes as she and Kayden stayed at a rental home near the boat's port to see Gallagher between charters.
A Bravo spokesperson previously confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY that the network "does not plan on working with Nathan in the future."
Other 'Below Deck' stars speak out after Nathan Gallagher arrest
Yawn is just the latest cast member from the Bravo reality show to speak out after Gallagher's arrest and conviction.
Aesha Scott posted an Instagram story last month in defense of Cameron after she was featured on the Sept. 21 episode of "Below Deck Mediterranean."
"Can people please give Gael some GRACE!?" the chief stew wrote. "That poor woman has been through hell and back the last two years, a hell most of you attacking her from your high horse at home have no real idea about."
Scott did not explicitly name Gallagher or mention his legal issues in her post, but said Cameron was "being fed so many lies" during the filming of the recent season.

Camerontook to Instagram on Oct. 8, three days after the Season 11 finale, to reflect on the close of "another chapter of life."
"Croatia showed me the strength I have as a mother and as a woman: no matter how challenging the circumstances, I will survive," she wrote in a lengthy carousel post of photos with her then-infant son and members of the cast.
