The nation's top-ranked kicker, according to Kohl's Kicking, was told he was ineligible heading into the 2026 high school football season.

Ryan Jung, a junior placekicker who had transferred

from IMG Academy (FL) to Milton (GA) during the offseason, was ruled ineligible by the GHSA, marking a setback for a squad that finished 8-4 a season ago. Jung has been committed to Michigan since June 20, 2026.

During the 2025 season, Jung connected on 4 of 5 field goal attempts, with a long of 46, and made 50 of 52 extra points for the Ascenders, according to MaxPreps. Jung was also a weapon in the kickoff game for the Ascenders, as he notched 36 touchbacks on 66 kicks through nine games played.

Milton intends to appeal the ruling, which is being spearheaded

by head coach Ben Reaves.
