KFC just launched a new menu item that's meant for snacking.
On Oct. 5, KFC announced its new Go Buckets, which pair nuggets, wings or a chicken tender with potato wedges or fries for less than $4. The buckets are designed to be handheld or fit in a standard car cupholder, according to a news release.
The menu addition comes as more Americans are snacking. KFC cited a March study from Datassential that found that 87% of U.S. consumers snack outside of traditional mealtimes like breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Go Buckets are smaller versions of the fried chicken chain's iconic buckets, which debuted back in 1957 when Colonel Harland Sanders and Pete Harman, KFC's first franchise owner, began filling paper buckets with chicken, rolls and a pint
of gravy as a family meal, according to a news release.
