If you’re preparing a nursery, the mattress is one purchase that deserves plenty of attention.
Helix, the mattress brand known for its beds and sleep quiz, has expanded its kids lineup with its first mattress made specifically for the crib.
The Helix Crib Mattress is designed to take families from the newborn stage into the toddler years. Its standout feature is a flippable construction with two different sleep surfaces: an extra-firm infant side intended for newborns to around 12 months and a separate toddler side for when your child gets older.
That means parents can flip the mattress instead of replacing it as their child grows.

The Helix Crib Mattress has a washable, waterproof cover
Anyone who's dealt with middle-of-the-night crib cleanup can appreciate an easy-to-clean mattress cover. Helix says the Crib Mattress comes with a 100% waterproof, machine-washable cover, plus a breathable design intended to support airflow.
The cover is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, while the mattress uses fiberglass-free foam that is Greenguard GOLD and CertiPUR-US certified.
According to Helix, the two-sided mattress was developed with input from pediatric sleep specialists and parents, with the infant surface made to follow American Academy of Pediatrics firmness guidance.

One mattress is designed to last from newborn to toddler
The biggest convenience may be the two-stage design. Rather than buying separate mattresses for the infant and toddler stages, parents can start with the extra-firm newborn side and later flip to the toddler surface.
The mattress measures 28 inches wide by 52 inches long by 6 inches high and is designed to fit standard cribs.
Helix says the mattress is handcrafted at its Arizona facility. It also comes with free shipping in two to five business days, a 120-night sleep trial and a limited lifetime warranty. HSA/FSA payment and financing are available as well.
