A college janitor in Ohio was arrested this week after allegedly hiding in the ceiling above a locker room to photograph members of a women’s soccer team as they changed, police said in a statement.
According to a press release from police in Wilmington, Ohio,
Jayson Barker was charged with 11 counts of voyeurism after a member of the Wilmington College women’s soccer team saw him allegedly taking photos from above the locker room.Barker was detained by campus security until police arrived, officials said. Police said Barker was initially held on a $22,000 bond at a nearby jail but has since been released after posting bail.
In a statement after the incident, Wilmington College said Barker worked for a vendor and that it terminated its relationship
with the custodial services contractor after the janitor's arrest.
“The College’s paramount concern is the safety and well-being of its students,” the college said. “We have been providing counseling and other support services for the affected students since Tuesday night and are taking measures to ensure that no student’s safety or well-being is compromised.”
According to online court records, Barker’s pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 5.
