Deb Haaland, the former U.S. congresswoman and Secretary of the Interior, is far from the only famous Haaland.
Haaland leaned into this fact in her Halloween costume, dressing as Norway and Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
The former Cabinet member donned a long blonde wig and a Man City jersey to emulate the superstar striker, accompanied by a "very cute soccer ball" that looked suspiciously like a dog.
Who is Deb Haaland?
Haaland served as the U.S. representative for New Mexico's 1st congressional district from 2019 to 2021, then served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 2021 to 2025.
Working under President Joe Biden, Haaland became the first Native American to serve as a Cabinet secretary.
Haaland's mother, Mary Toya, was Native American, and her father,
John David "Dutch" Haaland, was a Minnesotan of Norwegian heritage.
Haaland is currently running for governor of New Mexico, with the election set for Tuesday, Nov. 3. If elected, she would become the first Native American woman governor of a U.S. state.
