Liverpool is preparing for a big match against Premier League leaders Manchester City, but the international window took its toll on many of the Reds' top players.
While Andoni Iraola has had several weeks to plan for this match, his options were limited by injuries members of his squad suffered on international duty.
Who will be available for the Sunday showdown? Who is out for this match – and maybe more? Here's the latest on Liverpool's current injury situation:
Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo set to miss Manchester City match
Cody Gakpo suffered an ankle injury with the Netherlands that will keep him out of action this weekend and likely beyond, while Alexander Isak returned from Sweden duty hoping to rehabilitate a thigh issue without missing any club matches. Neither one will play against Manchester City.
"Unfortunately for us, both got injuries during the international break," Iraola said in his pre-match news conference. "As a club manager, you are always waiting until the games end, that the doctor doesn't call you and then gives you bad news.
"But in this case we've been unlucky with Alex and Cody – both of them are injured and they are not going to be involved on Sunday."
Liverpool get good news on a defender's fitness
While the news is negative on Liverpool's attackers, one of the club's brightest performers this season is ready to go.
Center back Jeremy Jacquet missed France's 4-1 win over Belgium in the UEFA Nations League, but the move to rest the 21-year-old came as a precaution. He'll be fit and ready for the contest, Iraola said.
There could be another boost for Liverpool, with Italy forward Federico Chiesa back in training. He is yet to play this season after getting injured in preseason plan but could see time against Manchester City if the match goes right.
