Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Travis Hunter logged his first career interception in his team's 35-6 Week 1 win over the New England Patriots.
As Hunter celebrated the takeaway with the rest of the Jaguars defense, his teammate, edge rusher Josh Hines-Allen, tried to do Hunter a solid and secure the ball as a souvenir.
Hines-Allen's efforts to do so led to a strange interaction with an equipment staffer on the sidelines.
Hines-Allen was seen attempting to get the ball from the attendant in a video captured by Spectrum News 13's Brandon Green. The ball boy bristled as Hines-Allen approached him, securing the ball in his right arm and using his left arm to bar the 29-year-old edge rusher from taking the ball from him.
"You can't touch me," the equipment
staffer shouted as Hines-Allen made repeated attempts to get the ball. "You can't touch me."
The ball boy then started walking away from Hines-Allen. The long-time Jaguar then gave him a pat on the back as he walked by, drawing the attendant's ire.
"Hey! He pushed me," the ball boy shouted. "He can't do that."
It wasn't immediately clear why the staffer was being so protective of the ball, nor was it clear whether he was aware Hunter's interception was the first of his career.
Hines-Allen did not address the incident following the game.
