Royal Caribbean has extended a pause on calls to its private destination in Haiti.
The company’s cruise ships will continue to skip visits to Labadee, located on the Caribbean island country’s northern coast, through 2028 amid ongoing violence. “These changes have been communicated directly with guests,” Royal Caribbean Group told USA TODAY in an emailed statement.
The company previously suspended stops there through June 2027. Royal Caribbean Group is working to provide information and support to Labadee team members, and has identified other roles throughout its fleet and destination portfolio during the suspension.
Royal Caribbean most recently visited Labadee in the first quarter of 2025, after temporarily halting stops there the prior year.
Gang violenceescalated in Haiti in 2024, and the country has been under a state of emergency since March of that year. The U.S. State Department’stravel advisory for Haiti is currently at Level 4, its highest designation.
“Do not travel to Haiti due to the risk of crime, kidnapping, terrorism, unrest, and limited health care,” the warning reads.
