I’m a firm believer that you should go on a “once in a lifetime vacation” at least once a year. As each new year approaches, I love to read different travel reports about not just the best places to go but also the best way to travel every year.

Last year, I took my annual once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Lapland, Finland, and this year I went to Cannes, France. Next year, it looks like I may be headed on a walking tour of Japan or camping in Greenland, all thanks to the adventure company 57 Hours.
The travel tour company put out its list of the five trending ways to travel in 2027, and I couldn’t be more excited. If you’re looking to plan your next trip, you can’t miss 57 Hours adventure trends list.

The 5 adventure travel trends that have me rethinking my 2027 vacation

1. New adventure destinations on the rise
Outdoor adventures will
be all the rage in the new year, according to 57 Hours. The travel tour company predicts the five destinations worth watching are Greenland for skiing, hiking, and sailing through fjords; Raja Ampat for liveaboard sailing and kayaking; Svalbard for sailing and skiing expeditions, for the skier that's done everything; Japan for multi-day walks on ancient pilgrimage routes; and Georgia for backcountry skiing.
2. Multi-day biking is having a moment
The tour company said bike trips are among the best-selling adventures on the 57hours platform, and the multi-day biking market is expected to double by 2030. Through 57Hours, travelers can book multi-day biking trips through Provence gravel, Tour du Mont Blanc by bike, boat-and-bike in Croatia, and more.
3. Iceland is heating up
I went to Iceland in 2022, and it’s by far one of my favorite destinations. The small island is filled with welcoming people, beautiful landscapes, and surprisingly good food. Iceland is one of 57hour’s best-selling destination five years running, the country just posted a record 2.5 million visitors in 2025, up from 2.26 million in 2024, and it keeps breaking its own record.
4. Backcountry skiers are heading to Europe instead of the American West
Gone are the days of skiing on a budget in the mountains of Colorado. Now, a day lift ticket at a major U.S. resort can run $200–300 whereas plenty of well-known European resorts charge a third of that. Plus, those who book guided backcountry access and mountain huts get bundled into much lower day rates. Even after flights, a guided hut-to-hut ski tour through the Dolomites or the Georgian Caucasus often costs less all-in than a comparable trip out of Jackson Hole or the Wasatch in Utah.
5. Women-only adventure travel is growing
As a female solo traveler, I know how comforting it can be to be in the presence of other women who are also traveling alone. Women-only trips are a fast-growing category on 57hours, with bookings and inquiries up 13.5x since 2021. This growing category has led to more opportunities for women to feel safe traveling alone.
When should I book my 2027 travel?
You don’t need to decide now where you want to travel next winter, but it’s definitely better to book a trip sooner than later. You shouldn’t wait until all of the spots in a group trip are full or until flights get too expensive to book.
