Katy Perry says Justin Trudeau came into her life during a difficult chapter and that she manifested her dream relationship.
The "Firework" singer called the former Canadian prime minister "the love of my life" in an interview with People, published Wednesday, Sept. 2, and shared details about how their relationship came to be.
Perry, 41, said the romance began during her Lifetimes Tour, a period she described as especially challenging. The tour followed a lukewarm reception to Perry’s 2024 album, "143," and coincided with the end of her nearly decade-long relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The "Daisies" singer was performing in Australia when news of the breakup became public.
"It was probably the hardest time," Perry said, telling People that she felt isolated from her friends and struggled emotionally while continuing to perform. "I was crying and just feeling far away. But then my angels went to work. They really showed up."
The tour, however, eventually helped her rediscover her sense of purpose and eventually introduced her to Trudeau, 54.
"I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted," Perry explained.
Perry and Trudeau sparked romance speculation in July 2025 after they were seen dining together in Montreal. The former prime minister attended Perry’s concert in the city days later with his daughter.
The Grammy-nominated artist also recalled telling her therapist that she "always wanted this epic legendary love," and now she’s living her dream. "Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece – then it showed up," Perry said.
The pop star, who has spoken about her belief in manifestation, said she wrote a list in August 2025 that ended with a wish for true love. She now believes that wish has been realized with Trudeau.

The couple publicly stepped out together in Paris in October 2025 while celebrating Perry’s birthday. They later made their red carpet debut in June at the Tribeca Festival premiere of "Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris."
Trudeau has also become a regular presence at Perry's performances, attending half of her 20 most recent shows, according to People. "He knows the words, he's supportive, and he's in awe; it's super healing," Perry said. "He is really heart-centered, and I think that we align in that way. I’m so grateful."
