Brittany Cartwright has been given a protective order against Jax Taylor amid their ongoing divorce.
A Los Angeles judge granted Cartwright's request for a domestic violence restraining order on Thursday, Aug. 27, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY. In her declaration, the "Valley" star, 37, wrote that "there is a pattern of acts of domestic violence" by her ex-husband, 47, throughout their marriage, which has continued since their split.
"During our relationship, his abuse included threats of physical violence, actual physical aggression, destruction of my property, degrading and humiliating verbal abuse, controlling behavior, invasion of my privacy, and financial abuse," she said.

Taylor addressed the allegations on his Instagram Story
Friday, Aug. 28, saying, "I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I’m truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for. The person I was in 2024, during the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction, is not the person I am today."
The reality star, who went to treatment in 2024 and 2025 for mental health and alcohol and cocaine addiction, went on to highlight that he "got help" and is "1 year and 9 months sober."
"I’ve remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life," he continued. "I was shocked to see claims about alleged incidents from over two years ago being brought up now, especially when there have never been any police reports filed or criminal charges brought against me related to them. There are allegations being made that I strongly dispute. The full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs - in court.
"I will respect the court’s orders and the legal process," Taylor concluded. "My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way. All I can do is own my mistakes, stay committed to the changes I’ve made and make sure the choices I make today reflect the man and father I want to be."
Brittany Cartwright accused Jax Taylor of consistent abuse
The former couple, who share 5-year-old son Cruz, began dating in 2015 and separated in 2024. Over the years, Cartwright alleged "the manner in which [Taylor] abuses me has changed, but the pattern of abuse has continued."
She further alleged the "Vanderpump Rules" alum calls her inappropriate names in front of their son and has publicly shared their personal conversations containing "private information," making her fear for her safety.
"[Taylor] has threatened to 'gut me like a fish', threatened to kill me, physically attacked me, thrown furniture at me causing me personal injury, broken at least three iPhones of mine, one iPad, destroyed property at our home, attempted to break in, stalked me, accessed my iPhone and messages and even Instagram account without my consent, deleted messages on my phone without my consent, removed my jewelry from the home without my consent and has refused to return them to me," she said.

Carwright also accused Taylor of threatening to make "false accusations" against her and said he uses their "required communications" about custody to "harass and threaten" her. She said his threats, including the one to "gut" her, were "terrifying precisely because it was made while he was already behaving violently toward me and throwing furniture at me."
The incident was allegedly recorded on Cartwright's security cameras, she said. Cartwright's filing listed a total of 12 alleged instances of abuse dating back to 2017, along with transcripts of their conversations, messages between them and photos of her alleged injuries.
Cartwright and Taylor married in 2019 and welcomed their son in 2021. Their relationship has been documented on "Vanderpump Rules" and its spinoff, "The Valley," which the former SUR employee stepped away from in the most recent season after seeking treatment for his mental health and bipolar disorder diagnosis.
In August 2025, Cartwright filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. In the latest filing, she also motioned for sole custody of Cruz, but a judge denied the request pending a court hearing.
