The Milwaukee Brewers figured how to include the entire state of Wisconsin in the raucous locker-room celebration the team advanced to the National League Championship Series again.
Champagne bottles adorned with the names of cities and municipalities around Wisconsin awaited the players in the clubhouse after they finished off a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
.The idea was hatched by Brewers travel coordinator, vice president Dan Larrea, who also came up with the flag that travels with the team and also includes the name of every city in Wisconsin.
"We really, in the clubhouse, try to tie
ourselves to both to the city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin,” Larrea said in late September to the Journal Sentinel, which is part of the USA TODAY Network. “We really feel passionate that we're not just playing for ourselves, but for the fan base that is not just Milwaukee, but it is Wisconsin. And anything we try to do, we try to tie it into the city or the state.”
The Brewers are set to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Championship Series for the second postseason in a row, beginning with Game 1 on Sunday at a time yet to be determined.
