No. 1 Santa Margarita and No. 12 St. Jon Bosco have taken their punches this season. Tonight, the top two California high school football teams are fighting for supremacy.
The Eagles (Rancho Santa Margarita) will be tested immediately after rising to the top spot in the Super 25 national rankings just this week. They have been excellent this season, allowing just 37 points over seven games, behind a variety of ALL-USA players at the midseason point. Defenders like LB Aydan Steen and DB Ca'ron Williams and offensive players like RB Adrian Petero and QB Fletch Palmer have propelled the team to continued success after winning the state title last season.
St. John Bosco (Bellflower) may be its toughest matchup yet. The Braves have just one loss on the
season, an opening-season fight against top-10 team Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV), and since then have won all six games. RB Maliq Allen has emerged as a star, supported by a strong passing game, and DB Isala Wily-Ava is a key defensive player.
It will be a coin flip of a matchup, as these two teams are among the preeminent programs not just in California but across the country.
Stay tuned for live updates as the game gets underway at 7 p.m. PT. The game can also be watched live on NFHS Network.
