San Francisco 49ers can't go a single game without an injury to a key player in their offense. This week it was their fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
Juszczyk was hurt during the fourth quarter of the 49ers' Week
4 home game against the Denver Broncos. He made a reception, catching a short pass from quarterback Brock Purdy. Juszczyk turned to run up the field for 16 yards before he took a helmet hit to his knee, leaving him on the turf in excruciating pain.
Juszczyk, a 10-time Pro Bowler, was down on the field for some time after the hit. The 35-year-old received attention from medical staff and trainers immediately following the hit from Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron.
The team ruled Juszczyk out for the rest of the game.
Juszczyk had two catches for 28 yards before exiting the game. The Niners led 17-6 with 4:05 left in the final period of the game.
More 49ers injuries
Juszczyk wasn't the only 49ers player to sustain an injury against the Broncos. Cornerback Upton Stout was ruled questionable to return after jogging to the locker room with a shoulder injury.
With 2:07 left in the game, safety Marques Sigle was injured for the 49ers on a kickoff return. San Francisco just scored a 56-yard touchdown after Purdy found tight end George Kittle for a score. On the ensuing kickoff, Sigle went to make a play on Broncos returner RJ Harvey going helmet first. After the play, Sigle remained on the turf as he was tended to by team medical staff.
The cart came out for Sigle, but he refused. Instead, he walked to the locker room, slowly, on his own will.
