CHICAGO — The New York Jets defense has an interception. I repeat, the New York Jets defense has an interception.
Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick picked off Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent in the second quarter Sunday, Oct. 4, snapping an NFL-record 20-plus games without a defensive interception. Fitzpatrick stepped in front of Colston Loveland at his own 39, snagging the ball and returning it 27 yards before tight end Sam Roush shoved him out of bounds.
It was the first interception for the New York defense since the 2024 regular-season finale, a span of 636 passes by opposing quarterbacks, and the first under second-year head coach Aaron Glenn.
Fitzpatrick had almost ended the streak earlier in the game, picking Bagent off late in the first
quarter. But it was wiped out by an illegal hands to the face penalty against Azareye'h Thomas.
