A 75-year-old New Yorker is about to light up the holidays.
A 76-foot-tall Norway spruce from West Edmeston, New York, has been selected as the 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, the Rockefeller Center announced on Oct. 26.
Donated by Rebecca Decker, the 11-ton tree, which measures 50 feet in diameter, will make the roughly 200-mile trip to Manhattan on Nov. 7. There, it will be covered in tens of thousands of multicolored LED lights and topped with a Swarovski star ahead of the annual tree-lighting ceremony on Dec. 2.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has been a holiday tradition since 1931, though the first formal tree-lighting ceremony wasn't held until 1933. Since then, trees from across the Northeast, and even one from Canada, have
taken center stage.
This year's tree-lighting ceremony will take place on Dec. 2, and the tree will remain on display through the first week of January.
After the holidays, the 2026 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be milled into lumber and donated to Habitat for Humanity.
When will the Rockefeller Christmas tree be lit in 2026?
The tree will be lit during the live broadcast of "Christmas in Rockefeller Center," on NBC beginning at 10 p.m. ET on Dec. 2, according to Rockefeller Center.
