LONDON – Does Duchess Meghan have a new job?
Acting could be one reason for the Sussexes' imminent return to Britain, USA TODAY understands.
According to Australia's News.com.au, Meghan has been offered a role in an upcoming project based in Britain, though no further details were shared. The outlet cited entertainment sources.
Meghan became well known for playing Rachel Zane in legal drama "Suits." The 45-year-old held the role for seven seasons, before her final episodes aired in April 2018, just weeks before she married Prince Harry, who is fifth in line to the British throne.
In a 2017 interview after their engagement, Meghan spoke of her decision to step away from her career.
"I don't see it as giving anything up. I see it as a change. It's
a new chapter," the duchess told the BBC.
Bronte Coy, the entertainment reporter who broke the news.com.au story, said Meghan's alleged role was for a "top secret" British production. She noted that the job offer had played a "significant" role in the family's decision to leave their life in Meghan's home state of California.
"I'm told it's significant, and she's very excited about it," Coy said about Meghan's reported new job offer.
When will Meghan and Harry return to UK?
Earlier this week, The Telegraph reported that Harry and wife Meghan would be moving back to the United Kingdom after spending six years in the United States. In 2020 the pair stepped back from the roles in the royal family and boarded a plane out of London.
They duke and duchess will return to Harry's home country with their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, who are expected to start at a new school in September, meaning the family of four could be on British soil in a matter of days, but certainly in the next few weeks.
The couple's decision sent shockwaves around the world, sparking a range of reactions and emotions on both sides of the Atlantic. The move also raised questions regarding their security and living arrangements, along with intrigue over a key question among royal watchers: Will estranged brothers Prince William and Harry finally make up?
