The Powerball jackpot rose to $793 million, with a cash value of $339.9 million, ahead of the Nov. 2 drawing, making it the tenth-largest prize in the game's history.
The most recent win occurred on Aug. 12, when a player in Illinois took home the estimated $1.040 billion jackpot. After months of rollovers, that jackpot grew to become one of the largest in Powerball history.
Though no one took the jackpot on Oct. 31, one player from North Carolina won $2 million, while two others, one from Georgia and one from the United Kingdom, won $1 million each.

How to play Powerball
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Depending on local laws, players may also be able to purchase tickets online.
To play, select five white-ball numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26. Players can also add Power Play for an extra $1 to boost non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
Prefer to leave it to chance? Choose a Quick Pick and let the computer generate your numbers.
To win the jackpot, a ticket must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. If no one wins, the jackpot rolls over and grows.
Do you have to be a US citizen or resident to play Powerball?
You do not have to be a U.S. citizen or resident to buy a Powerball ticket.
Anyone who meets the legal age requirement where the ticket is purchased, generally 18 or older, can play while visiting a participating jurisdiction. Winners who live outside the United States are eligible to claim prizes, though taxes may apply.
