Matthew McConaughey is taking his bromance with Woody Harrelson to the bar and raising a glass to it.
The two longtime friends are toasting their new Apple TV series "Brothers" with a new Blue Blood Cocktail featuring Matthew and Camila McConaughey’s Pantalones Organic Tequila and Harrelson’s Harmony Gin and Origen Vodka.
The drink, which mixes their respective spirits into one drink, is "inspired by the question they’ve been having fun with for years: Could they actually be blood brothers?" a news release said.
In "Brothers," the "True Detective" costars play fictionalized versions of themselves, with their friendship thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret that "they might actually be brothers."
"We’re not sure if we share the
same blood but our spirits sure do mix well," McConaughey told USA TODAY.
What's in Blue Blood Cocktail?
McConaughey’s and Harrelson’s drink, described as "a spirited take on a Long Island Iced Tea," includes:
- 1 oz. Pantalones Reposado
- 0.5 oz. Harmony Gin
- 0.5 oz. Origen Vodka
- 0.75 oz. blue curaçao
- 0.5 oz. lime juice
- 0.5 oz. honey syrup
- 2 droppers chili tincture
You can top the actors' drink with club soda and serve on the rocks with a salted rim and lime garnish.
The Blue Blood Cocktail will also be available at bars and restaurants nationwide, including Buddy’s in New York City, The Liberty in Austin, Texas, Wildcatter Saloon in Katy, Texas, and The Down ’n Out in Fort Worth, Texas

In a video for the drink, the two, whose friendship dates back 30 years, also get behind the bar to shake up the drink together.
The Oscar-winning actor and his wife introduced their line of "super premium organic tequila" in October 2023. The couple, who married in 2012 and have three children, have released several on-brand photos and social media posts regarding the lack of pants ("pantalones" is Spanish for "pants") since launching Pantalones with a commercial in which McConaughey calls the tequila, "Quite possibly the best thing Camila and I have made with our pants on."
Are Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson brothers?
While it is not confirmed if McConaughey and Harrelson share the same blood, the two have often played into the rumor, if not fueled it.
In 2023, McConaughey revealed on Kelly Ripa "Let's Talk Off Camera" that a few years earlier, his mom dropped a bombshell, telling Harrelson, "Woody, I knew your dad." They then "did some math and found out that his dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce," meaning the actors could share the same dad.
Appearing on "The Late Show" that same year, Harrelson confirmed the "crazy" story, noting that nine months before McConaughey's birth, his mom "was on a sabbatical from her relationship with his supposed father, Jim." The "Zombieland" actor added that McConaughey was reluctant to do a DNA test to confirm if they're related.
"We want to go and test, but for him, it's a much more big deal," Harrelson said. "He feels like he's losing a father, but I'm like, 'No, you're gaining a different father, and a brother.'"

At the world premiere of their Apple TV show on Sept. 17, Harrelson, 65, said he was ready to take a DNA test with McConaughey, 56, in the closest bathroom off the red carpet and end the debate.
"I'm ready to do it now. We can cross swords in the bathroom," Harrelson told USA TODAY on the carpet, apparently believing that the DNA test would require a urine analysis.
Regardless of the methodology, McConaughey says he wouldn't take the DNA test, fearing the results would hurt Harrelson too much.
"Because if it's not true, my buddy here is gonna be upset," McConaughey says. "I don't want that to happen."
"I would be very sad," Harrelson adds. "But I'm pretty sure it's true."
