Lili Reinhart is in her rom-com era — and sporting the outfits to show it.
The actress has put a nostalgic spin on method dressing for "The Love Hypothesis" press tour, channeling stylish rom-com characters and re-creating some of their most iconic looks.
For the star's most recent press outing on Friday, Sept. 18, Reinhart turned heads when she stepped out in a lavender Hervé Leger mini dress — an homage to Sandra Bullock in the 2000 film, "Miss Congeniality." Bullock's Gracie Hart famously sports the iconic bandage-style halter dress following her character's memorable FBI-agent-turned-beauty-queen makeover. And just like Bullock, Reinhart strutted down the street in a pair of matching lavender heels (which she managed not to tumble in, unlike
Gracie).
On Sunday, Sept. 20, "The Love Hypothesis" star shared a photo of herself in the custom replica of the "Miss Congeniality" dress along with a roundup of snaps from the film's press tour to celebrate her 30th birthday. In the mix of birthday wishes, Bullock appeared in the comments and gave her seal of approval on the recreation of the famous look.
"Stunning! Now all you need is a crown and a stunt mat to break your fall," Bullock wrote, adding the laughing face and purple heart emojis to the end of her comment.
Reinhart, along with costar Tom Bateman, kicked off "The Love Hypothesis" press tour at the beginning of the month with the "Riverdale" actress paying tribute to Kate Hudson's Andie Anderson in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" for her first rom-com homage.
The star wowed in a striking early 2000s dupe of the backless butter yellow gown, which was originally created by Carolina Herrera and the film's costume designer, Karen Patch. And like Hudson's magazine journalist character, Reinhart styled her hair in a low, messy bun, letting her diamonds (although not a yellow diamond necklace) take the spotlight.
She continued the tour with an homage to Drew Barrymore's Danielle de Barbarac in the beloved Cinderella tale "Ever After."
Channeling Barrymore's whimsical winged gown, Reinhart sparkled in a custom Rodarte recreation of the beaded off-the-shoulder design. In a fairy tale-like photoshoot, Reinhart donned the glittering gown, including the soft, barely-there wings.
Following her "Ever After" moment, Reinhart stunned in a look inspired by Keira Knightley's daring green gown in "Atonement." In another photoshoot, Reinhart posed against a library bookshelf in a custom chiffon Tory Burch gown, originally created to resemble Knightley's fan-favorite frock for last year's Vogue World: Hollywood.
Like Knightley's dress, the Tory Burch gown featured a plunging neckline with a draped drop waist and a low-cut open back.
And you can't mention iconic rom-com characters without Jennifer Garner's Jenna Rink in the beloved film "13 Going on 30." Combining her press tour theme with her milestone 30th birthday, Reinhart donned a recreation of Garner's famed slip dress-and-jacket look from the 2004 film, featuring a silky lace-trimmed mini dress from Fleur du Mal and Garner's original Nanette Lepore polka-dot coat.
Now the only question is, will Reinhart's own "Love Hypothesis" looks stand the test of time like the great rom-com fashions that came before?
