Milania Giudice's assault case has been delayed one day after her mother, Teresa Giudice, revealed that her daughter had fentanyl in her system.
The 20-year-old daughter of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice was set to appear in Montville Township Municipal Court Tuesday, Sept. 29, but the date was instead pushed back two months, according to records viewed by USA TODAY.
Giudice is facing one count of simple assault purposely or knowingly causing bodily injury related to an incident that occurred on May 14, which resulted in her arrest. She has pleaded not guilty, and her next court date is scheduled for Dec. 1.
In a statement to Page Six, Giudice's lawyer Alan Kraminsky said: “Without getting into the specifics, I determined that
adjourning the hearing was the appropriate course of action." He added, "I join Milania’s family in respectfully asking everyone to give her the privacy and space she needs."
USA TODAY reached out to Milania Giudice's attorney for comment.
Milania Giudice had fentanyl in her system, Teresa Giudice revealed
The court postponement comes one day after the release of bodycam footage, obtained by USA TODAY, from a Sept. 23 incident at Tampa International Airport, during which Teresa Giudice revealed Milania Giudice had fentanyl in her system.
"I'm never speaking to you again," Milania Giudice could be heard saying to her mom, 54, who replied, "That's fine, I just want to get you help."
"I just want to save your life. That's all," the Bravo star continued, before telling an officer, "She had fentanyl in her system."
While Milania Giudice, who attends the University of Tampa, did not deny the claim, she said it was "because I was laced. I was laced. I go to college." She then asked, "Do you want to put me back in the psych ward?"
Teresa Giudice spoke out about Milania Giudice for the first time
Hours later, Teresa Giudice broke her silence on Milania's recent troubles in a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram Story.
"As a mother, there is nothing more important to me than the health, safety, and well-being of my children," the Bravolebrity began. "The past few months have been incredibly difficult for our family, and I feel it is important to say something while also protecting my daughter during an extremely vulnerable time in her life.
"Milania has experienced tremendous heartbreak and significant psychological trauma after losing two of her best friends," she continued. In July, Milania Giudice's close friend Victoria Zardoya died after a fatal fall during a trip off the coast of Florida.
"Grief affects everyone differently, and watching your child try to process that kind of loss is something no parent can ever truly prepare for. Right now, my only focus is my daughter — making sure she is surrounded by love, family, support, and the care she needs," Teresa Giudice wrote.
Milania Giudice is one of Teresa Giudice and ex-husband Joe Giudice's four daughters, along with Gia, 25, Gabriella, 22, and Audriana, 16. The family has documented their lives on Bravo's "RHONJ" since its debut in 2009, when Milania Giudice was just 3.
"I understand that because our family has lived much of our lives in the public eye, there will naturally be questions and speculation," the statement continued. "But Milania is my daughter before she is anything else. She is a young woman going through an incredibly difficult and deeply personal time, and she deserves the opportunity to heal without every moment of her pain being analyzed publicly."
Teresa Giudice added, "I am asking, from one mother to another, and from one family to all of you, to please show Milania compassion and kindness and allow her the privacy she needs right now. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and support. It means more to our family than you know."
She concluded the statement by asking "the media and the public to give Milania and our entire family the privacy and space we need as we navigate this together." Teresa Giudice also thanked her followers "for your understanding, your compassion, and most importantly, for respecting my daughter during this difficult time."
While Milania Giudice has not addressed the bodycam footage, she did speak out about her assault arrest in a June 28 TikTok video, explaining that stuff "happens in life and it is what it is."
"You gotta learn from it, just become a better person and talk about it," she said at the time. "I just was not in a good area in my life, and you know what, that happens. I've been through a lot in life, and some other stuff happened to me. Just because you guys think you know everything that happens in my life, you just really don't."
