Jennifer Lawrence has finally stepped into Instagram’s spotlight – and she is already threatening a quick exit if anyone bullies her.
The Oscar-winning actress shared her first post on Sept. 10, greeting followers with a characteristically dry warning about how quickly her social media experiment could end.
“So, yeah, I’m giving it a shot,” Lawrence said in the video. “And if anyone says anything negative, I will quit. Immediately. No questions asked.”
Lawrence, 36, added that even a mere negative thought or privately held criticism could drive her away from the platform.
“If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know,” she joked. “I’ll know. And I’ll quit.”

Games” star continued the bit in her first Instagram Story, asking her new audience to consider her emotional well-being before weighing in.
“Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby,” the message read.
Lawrence then revealed the identity of the supposedly vulnerable child: “It’s me. I’m the baby.”
Lawrence joined the platform under the verified username @jlaw, a reference to the nickname frequently used by fans and the media. She offered a simple explanation for the choice in her bio: “jenniferlawrence was taken.”
Her profile picture also reflects the actor’s playful approach to her public debut. It shows Lawrence seated with foils in her hair, holding a drink and looking suspiciously toward the camera.
In a 2014 interview with BBC Radio 1, Lawrence said she would never join Twitter and cautioned fans that accounts bearing her name were not actually operated by her.
She later described herself as a quiet social media observer during a now archived 2018 interview with InStyle, saying she watched what happened online but generally did not contribute to the conversation. “I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak,” she said during the interview, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Now that Lawrence has officially entered the chat, however, her followers may want to think twice before hitting “send” on any criticism – or risk scaring Instagram’s self-described baby away for good.
