Valencia CF has confirmed the hiring of former Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre.
Aguirre takes over the struggling La Liga side on an initial deal through the end of the season, with the club having an option to extend the contract by one year.
The 67-year-old led Mexico to the round of 16 in a World Cup on home soil over the summer before departing. El Tri legend Rafa Marquez has since taken over as head coach.

Valencia sacked Carlos Corberán last week after the club failed to win any of its opening five matches. The historic club currently sits 19th in the 20-team La Liga with just four points from seven matches.
Aguirre brings extensive
experience managing in Spain, with previous stints at Osasuna, Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol, Leganés and Mallorca.
The veteran coach has also managed Japan and Egypt at the international level.
Aguirre spent two years as Mexico manager, his third stint in charge of El Tri. In addition to the World Cup run, he also led the team to the 2025 Gold Cup title.
