Europe's biggest soccer clubs will learn their opponents in the new UEFA Champions League campaign on Thursday, Aug. 27 with the draw for the main phase of the tournament in Monaco.
In the current format, 36 teams compete in one "league," each team playing eight matches โ four home and four away. Thursday's Champions League draw will assign opponents, with the clubs divided into four pots based on UEFA's club coefficient. Teams cannot be drawn against another side from their country.
Paris Saint-Germain is going for a three-peat in the Champions League, with other giants like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal among the favorites to win out as the continent's best team.
