Inter Miami's new manager is in the building.
Argentina native Cristian “Kily” González was announced as the team's new head coach in late August but arrived Tuesday, Sept. 15 after finally being able to secure the documentation necessary to work in the U.S., the club announced. He will make his debut leading Inter Miami in the Wednesday, Sept. 16 Campeones Cup against Liga MX side Cruz Azul.
The 52-year-old coach led his first training session Tuesday and was spotted chatting with club president and co-owner David Beckham as training started.

González arrives on a two-year contract
that will take him through the end of the 2027-28 season. That is the also the length of time Herons' superstar Lionel Messi currently is under contract after the club signed him to an extension in October 2025.
González takes over from Guillermo Hoyos, who moved from the front office to lead the club when Javier Mascherano left his post just months after guiding the club to a first-ever MLS Cup victory.
After the matchup with La Maquina for bragging rights, González and Inter Miami will turn their attention back to league play. Miami has drawn its last three MLS matches and currently sits second in the Eastern Conference, nine points behind leaders Nashville SC. Nine regular season matches remian before the start of the postseason.
