Jabberin' Jack, a singing pumpkin toy with an LED-animated face, might not be as innocent as it first appears.
On Sep. 8, TikToker @glow.up.between.naps, a mother of three, shared a viral video in which she warned parents about the toy. "Let me de-influence you on buying this viral Jabberin' Jack pumpkin if you have children. Listen to this song they slipped in, and, by the way, it gets worse as it goes along," she said.
In the video, she showed the toy singing a Halloween song with sexual innuendos. Jabberin' Jack says he's lonely – scaring people all day leaves him feeling empty inside – but he has a solution. "Come closer, I have a kiss for you, and it tastes like pumpkin pie," he serenades. "We'll be wicked for one night, morbid and nefarious,
and when the sun goes down, till morning it will just be us."
The toy doesn't stop there. The innuendos become more suggestive. "How would you like to scream all night? I'll fill you full of fright. Guide you in the darkest deeds, and spoil you with my roasted pumpkin seeds," he sings.
The TikToker's kids can be heard giggling in the background.

The video currently boasts over one million views and 153,000 likes. @glow.up.between.naps said in a follow-up video, "I did not realize that it was going to go off the way that it did. It was just a post to let parents be aware and make an informed decision about purchasing the Jabberin' Jack pumpkin."
She addressed some comments she'd apparently received from other people who had bought the pumpkin and hadn't heard the toy sing the lewd ballad in question. "Some people say there are different variations, and this may be true," she said.

According to the toy's website, each Jabberin' Jack has different songs loaded onto it. There are nine songs in total, and each toy has three of them, along with 40 lines of jokes and phrases per character. It's manufactured by Mindscope Products out of Glendale, California.
One video advertisement from September 2022 shows children playing with the toy and boasts about it selling out for two years in a row. "Jack is a one-of-a-kind jack-o'-lantern that comes to life with an animated face that talks, sings and tells jokes," the narrator says.
George Balanchi, the founder and president of Mindscope Products, says in a statement to USA TODAY, "We hear the concerns parents have raised about one of Jabberin’ Jack’s songs, and we take that feedback seriously. We’re sorry the song has caused discomfort. Our goal is to bring the Halloween spirit into a fun and creative decoration."
"Although it is designed as seasonal décor," he adds, "we recognize that families and children enjoy it and that parents have expectations about what they will hear. The music and animations were originally created by outside creators in 2020 and were part of a content package we acquired in 2022. We understood the song as playful Halloween humor, but we recognize that some listeners hear it differently. Regardless of its origin, we take responsibility for the content in our products."
Balanchi also says that the company appreciates everyone who has shared their concerns, and that they are already developing a new version for 2027 with new characters and content. "The song being discussed will not be included in that version. We will have direct oversight of the new music and lyrics, and the feedback we are receiving will inform that work," he says.
The conversation is now spreading to other social media platforms. "Ya'll see that freaked out singing Jack-o'-lantern yet?" reads one post from X user @mace_face18 with over 1.3 million views as of writing.
Her tweet has sparked new discourse, jokes and reactions. One user, @HollyyLeighanne, says she was up till 4 am crying laughing at Jabberin' Jack's song in a quote-tweet with over 17,000 likes. "I have real tears streaming down my face. HE SAID IT TASTES LIKE PUMPKIN PIE," she added.
Not all of the reactions are negative online. Some are now saying that they want the Jabberin' Jack toy because of the inappropriate song. "You have unfortunately influenced me to buy him," reads one top comment on the original TikTok video with over 13,400 likes.

It's not the first time that a talking pumpkin toy has gone viral online. In 2023, TikToker @imshannonduh shared a video of an 8-foot Light and Sound Pumpkin Halloween Ghoul, who says, "I am not a jack-o'-lantern. My name is Lewis."
The video amassed more than 606,700 likes and inspired others to visit Lewis at their local Target. A year after the viral moment, Target released a press statement reminiscing about when Lewis sold out in the first week and announcing his return for the new Halloween season.
