The Juice was apparently not worth the squeeze.
The NFL has rescinded the $14,926 fine it imposed on San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle “Juice” Juszczyk after Week 2.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the league accepted the explanation Juszczyk provided: he was "simulating drinking a juice box."
Juszczyk initially received the fine in response to the celebration he did after catching a touchdown pass against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 20. The 14-year NFL veteran has used the juice drinking celebration often in his career, but the fine he received after Week 2 was the first one he received for doing it.
According to Schefter's reporting last month, the NFL interpreted Juszczyk's Week 2
celebration as an "imitation of chugging a beer."
"Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste," the NFL wrote, per Schefter.
The ESPN insider also reported that Juszczyk had appealed the fine shortly after its imposition. The fullback said he doesn't brink beer.
USA TODAY Sports has reached out to the NFL for its full statement on the decision to rescind the fine on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
