Although the primary election officially takes place on Aug. 18, residents of Miami-Dade County had the opportunity to cast their votes starting Monday, Aug. 3.
Florida is a closed primary state, meaning, for partisan races, that voters belonging to a political party may only vote in that party's primary to decide who will run in November's general election.
Below is a list of candidates running in notable races listed on the official master sample ballot, available via Miami-Dade County's Supervisor of Elections.

When is Florida's 2026 primary election?
The primary election is
set for Tuesday, Aug. 18, though early voting must begin no later than Aug. 8 in Florida. Some counties may allow earlier voting.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Thursday, Aug. 6.

Early voting for the 2026 Florida primary election in Miami-Dade County began on Aug. 3 and will last through Aug. 16, according to the county's website.
