FIFA agreed to pay $4 million for a seven-year lease for office space in Trump Tower, according to documents obtained by Le Monde and the New York Times.
Both publications said that the offices are rarely used.
While the governing body of soccer kept its main U.S. office in Coral Gables, Florida, it added a 17th-floor office at Trump Tower in June 2025.
The move was another example of the closeness between FIFA President Gianni Infantino and U.S. President Donald Trump.
In addition to the office lease, the 2026 World Cup draw took place at the Kennedy Center, which Trump became chairman of in 2025. Infantino awarded Trump the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at the event.
FIFA told the New York Times in a statement that the lease “was signed in accordance
with FIFA’s standard internal processes."
Why did FIFA add office space in Trump Tower?
The space is nearly 5,000 square feet and is used for special events rather than the day-to-day offices in Florida. It was utilized during Infantino's recent visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly. During the international meetings, Infantino met with William Ruto, the president of Kenya, Tshering Tobgay, the prime minister of Bhutan, and other leaders.
Infantino then went to the Caribbean, attending Concacaf Nations League matches in Jamaica, the British Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, and St Kitts and Nevis.
Infantino is up for re-election at March's FIFA Congress, and as recently as the 2026 World Cup final his continuity looked assured. However, an unpopular plan to invite private investment to take control of portions of the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments raised questions about whether the 56-year-old would be able to survive a run from an established candidate. Infantino quickly withdrew the proposal and since has been shoring up support.
The only candidate officially declaring his intent to face Infantino is Swiss ex-defender Ramon Vega, who has until Nov. 18 to submit official backing from at least five of FIFA's 211 member associations.
The president of the Confederation of African Football said last week at meetings in Cape Verde that all 54 CAF members plan to back Infantino's re-election campaign.
