Richard Gere's wife, Alejandra Gere, is showing him some love on his birthday.
The "Pretty Woman" actor celebrated his 77th birthday on Aug. 31, and the 43-year-old honored the occasion by sharing photos of the pair and one of their sons celebrating together in birthday hats.
"No one I rather spend my life with, happy birthday, I love you, we love you," the political activist captioned a three-image carousel on Instagram. In one, Gere embraces Alejandra as their son runs into the shot; another shows the three embracing in a group hug. The last picture is of Alejandra with the couple's two dogs.
Gere reposted Alejandra's tribute on his Instagram Stories, writing, "I love you." The actvist also reshared birthday shoutouts from Tibetan figures, as
well as PSAs and coverage about the catastrophic flash floods across the Himalayas. "My heart is also in Nepal," he wrote.
The "Primal Fear" star and his wife, who moved to Spain in 2024, have been married since 2018 and share two sons, Alexander, 7, and James, 6. Gere also shares actor son Homer Gere with ex-wife Carey Lowell, as well as the Spanish publicist's teenage son from her previous marriage to mining magnate Govind Friedland.
The private couple made their most recent red carpet appearance in November, at the premiere of their new short documentary titled "Lo Que Nadie Quiere Ver" ("What Nobody Wants to See") in Madrid. The project captures the severity of Spain's homelessness crisis and highlights the stories of unhoused people.
The previous month, the pair returned to the United States for the New York screening of "Wisdom of Happiness," a documentary about the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, which Gere produced.
For his 76th birthday in 2025, Alejandra Gere celebrated the actor amid a year that "brought changes and challenges."
"Through it all you've been the constant our rock," she captioned an Instagram post. "The boys and I feel your love in every moment: the way you show up for us, the patience you bring, the strength you give, and the heart you pour into this family."
She continued, "Even in the busiest days, you are the center of our little universe, and we are so grateful for you. We love you beyond words, today and always."
And in a January 2025 interview with Elle Spain, the activist said she and Gere were "like soulmates."
"We have the same values, we see the world in the same way and from the first moment we felt like we'd known each other for a long time," she said. "And this only happens once, if it ever happens at all. We were brought together by the karma of our past lives."
