Having found great success with various special event one-off games, Major League Baseball approached the Trump administration about the viability of playing a game in a national park, MLB confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
The Washington Post was first to report on the dialogue between the league and White House.
In recent years, MLB has staged games at the "Field of Dreams" site in Iowa, Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and a 2025 game at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee and the league is naturally interested in more opportunities for regular-season events.
The White House said in a statement to the Post that MLB had inquired "if it was possible to host a game at a national park, similar to the Field of Dreams game," but noted that no decisions
have been made and the conversation began with MLB's ask.
"This is not a Presidential directive, nor is it being directed by the White House. It’s also not being driven by the Department of Interior," the White House said in a statement to the Post. "Therefore, this is not a White House or Administration priority."
The Field of Dreams game returned in 2026 after four years, and the event is scheduled to be held again next season with the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals facing off in Dyersville on Aug. 12.
