Which U.S. state owns the record for the most Little League World Series championships?
The answer is California, and at the moment it’s not even close. With a staggering eight Little League World Series championships (1961, 1962, 1963, 1992, 1993, 2009, 2011 and 2023), the Golden State has twice as many LLWS titles than any other U.S. state.
Behind California, there is a fierce four-way tie between Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
New Jersey and Pennsylvania each has a team among the 2026 LLWS participants, so one of those states could move into sole possession of second place. California has a representative in this year's field of teams - so that lead in U.S. LLWS titles could grow even larger.
Meanwhile, 35 states are still
chasing their first-ever Little League World Series crown, which includes 2026 contenders Iowa, Massachusetts, Ohio and Nevada.
Will the 2026 Little League World Series champion be a repeat winner, or will it be a state that takes home the banner for the very first time? That outcome will be determined August 19-30 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
