A spat between Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and LSU over his No. 5 jersey has prompted ticket resale company StubHub to take a shot at the former Heisman Trophy winner.
LSU recently gaveDaniels' former No. 5 jersey to sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett, who had been promised the number during his recruitment.
Representatives for Daniels responded by sending LSU a cease-and-desist letter, saying the school should stop using his name, image and likeness and arguing that the number should have been preserved as part of his legacy.
"Jayden made it clear that he did not want his number given to another player, and he believed his wishes would be respected," the statement said. "His Heisman Trophy-winning season and everything he accomplished
on and off the field cemented his place in LSU history. To see his number given to another player is incredibly disappointing and feels like a failure to honor the significance of what Jayden accomplished at LSU."
As Daniels enters his third season as quarterback for the Commanders, StubHub poked fun at the LSU spat ahead of his first preseason game of the season.

In a post on X Thursday, StubHub joked that it will no longer offer the option to buy five tickets. It showed a fake image of the seating chart for the Commanders' Sept. 27 game against the Seattle Seahawks, only showing options to buy one, two, three, four or six-plus tickets.
"Effective immediately, we will no longer offer tickets in groups of 5. Out of respect for Jayden Daniels, we're only doing 4 or 6+. Thank you for your understanding," StubHub jokingly said in its post.
Others also made quips about the ordeal, including fantasy sports website Underdog, which said the NFL would consider "a league-wide bye in Week 5" because it would encroach on Daniels' number.
But StubHub's post had people telling the resale company to "stick to your lane."
"What did Jayden Daniels ever do to you!?! lol," one person commented.
