Travis Kelce revealed on a Wednesday, Oct. 21, episode of his "New Heights" podcast that his brother, Jason Kelce, recently gave the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his pop star wife, Taylor Swift, a scare with an early-morning phone call.
It all started when Jason was visiting Travis and participating in a challenge known as "Squatober." The elder Kelce brother evidently dialed up his little brother at 7:30 a.m., which sent Travis into an early-morning tizzy.
"In my mind, I’m thinking worst-case scenario," Travis described of his mental state as he answered the call. "I'm like, 'Oh, (expletive), is everything okay? Maybe after the run Jason’s in the hospital, he blew his knee out or something.' I don't know. I was worst-case scenario, the brain
was just waking up, and I was like (expletive) it, things are firing."
So, Travis answered the phone and asked if everything was OK with his brother.
Jason affirmed things were fine. He simply needed Travis' help with something related to one of the workouts he was doing.
"Jason’s like, 'Yeah, can you come spot me?' I was just like, 'No way!'" Travis said, with a laugh.
But the younger Kelce brother was immediately game to help out his older brother, though he noted he wouldn't have been able to spot or save Jason if he was doing a back squat.
Meanwhile, Travis communicated that Swift was a bit less enthused with how things unfolded after the early-morning call.
"I’m walking out of the room, and Taylor’s like, 'This is (expletive) up,'" Travis said. "And I’m just like, ‘Nah, it’ll be good. It’ll be good!'"
The Kelce brothers were in stitches about how the whole situation played out. Travis was also amused by the conversation the two had before Jason came to visit, which involved the former Philadelphia Eagles center preparing for the workouts he would be performing during his time in Kansas City.
"I knew Jason was doing Squatober," Travis said. "He actually asked me how much weight I have in my basement. I didn’t even add it up. I just told him how many plates I had. And he was like, 'Oh, okay, cool, I’ll bring some.'"
Travis then explained that Jason brought 50 pounds of weights – which Jason confirmed was comprised of two separate 25-pound plates – with him on his flight to Kansas City.
"A couple extra plates to throw on the old squat bar," Travis said. "Absolutely hilarious, the most meathead thing I think I’ve ever seen Jason do."
