Amid a brutal run of form, Los Angeles FC has fired head coach Marc Dos Santos, the club announced on Sunday, Sept. 27.
"Marc has given a great deal to this club over the years, and we are grateful for his commitment, care and contributions to LAFC," John Thorrington, LAFC president of soccer operations, said in a statement. "We wish Marc and his family all the best moving forward."
An interim head coach has not yet been named by the team.
Dos Santos was in his first season as LAFC's head coach after spending five seasons as an assistant with the club (2018, 2022-25). When previous LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo stepped aside after the 2025 season, Do Santos was elevated to the top job. The results did not meet the standards of a club that expects
to compete for multiple trophies each season.
Despite a roster featuring World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, South Korean soccer icon Son Heung-min and former MLS Golden Boot winner Denis Bouanga, LAFC managed just one win in its last 10 matches and dropped to sixth in the Western Conference standings.
LAFC has six matches remaining in the MLS regular season, starting with a home fixture against the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecapson Saturday, Oct. 10.
