Nebraska football opens its season against nearby Ohio, and is aiming to improve from its 7-6 finish in 2025.
The Cornhuskers will be led by UNLV transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea after two-year starter Dylan Raiola transferred to Oregon, where he'll spend 2026 as the backup to preseason Heisman Trophy contender Dante Moore. Colandrea was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks outside Power Four last season, passing for 3,459 yards with 23 touchdowns to nine interceptions while rushing for 649 yards with two scores.

Nebraska also has to replace star running back Emmett Johnson, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, The Huskers will
likely deploy a committee to replace Johnson, a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season.
The Bobcats are a solid early season test for Nebraska, after having won nine games last season with a bowl win over UNLV. Ohio also won the MAC in 2024.
