Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo is stepping out of the octagon and into the ring to face actor and rising boxing prospect Javon "Wanna" Walton. Cejudo's boxing debut is set as the main event for Misfits Boxing on Sept. 26 at the James L. Knight Arena in Miami.
Walton is best known for his breakout role in the hit HBO series “Euphoria.”
Cejudo is a former U.S. Olympic wrestling gold medalist and a two-division UFC champion. He initially retired from MMA as the reigning bantamweight champion in 2020, only to stage a comeback three years later.
After suffering a unanimous decision loss to Payton Talbott at UFC 323, he announced that he would be stepping away from mixed martial arts for good, his second professional retirement.
Originally, Cejudo was
slated to face influencer/boxer Nurideen Shabazz in his debut, but Shabazz withdrew due to injury.
Now, Cejudo will face Walton, who turned pro in 2023 and has an undefeated record of 3-0-1. Walton is currently signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
