Margaret Qualley is freeing the toes.
The star of the upcoming film “The Dog Stars” made an appearance on the movie’s London premiere red carpet on Thursday, Aug. 20, in a head-to-literal-toe Chanel look from the brand’s spring-summer ’27 cruise collection.
Qualley wore a fully fringe plunge neck little black dress, but what really turned heads was the brand’s viral foot-baring ankle strap sandals. The controversial resort-wear design, showcasing a fully exposed foot, is simplistic at core, featuring a leather-capped heel emblazoned with Chanel's iconic logo and thin, lace-up ties that wrap around the ankle.

Topping off the statement-making look, the actress, who recently split from ex and Jack Antonoff, flaunted a dark glossy pedicure on her bare toes to complement the non-shoe shoes, which first hit the runwayback in April.
The viral Chanel shoes are products of a popular barley-there shoe trend that has recently been taking over the runways, one that includes PVC and jelly shoes. At Paris Men's Fashion Week in June, Saint Laurent's spring 2027 menswear collection debuted a transparent derby-style shoe that had the internet abuzz, as many expressed concerns with the amount of sweat the shoes may hold, especially during Europe's record-breaking heatwave.
"They must look fancy with all the sweat and condensation," one Instagram user commented on Saint Laurent's post promoting the shoes, while another said, "I'm calling the police."
When it came to stepping out fully barefoot in the name of fashion, Qualley, who recently split from ex and Jack Antonoff, got mixed reactions.
"Ten toes down for this look," one Instagram user wrote on a photo of the star's free-the-foot ensemble.
"You won stylist of the year," another user commented on a post shared by Danielle Goldberg, Qualley's stylist.
Meanwhile, another commentor quipped, "I hate it, but I respect."
