There have been some huge high school football games on the east coast this season but the seventh week of the season arguably had the biggest games of the year as several ranked teams squared off with one another or another top team from another region.
How did they fare? For many, they came away with wins while others weren't quite as lucky.
Here are USA TODAY Sports' Week 8 East Region Super 15 rankings.
1. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Record: 5-0
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 10, at The St. James Academy (VA), 4:30 p.m. ET
Against the winless Titans, St. Frances Academy had no issues keeping its unbeaten start to the season alive as it cruised on the road to a 46-0 win.
2. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Record: 6-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Garinger (NC), 7 p.m. ET
The Huskies were off last week.
3. The St. James Academy (Springfield, VA)
Record: 4-1
Next
game: Saturday, Oct. 10, vs. St. Frances Academy (MD), 4:30 p.m. ET
Any questions regarding the Strivers legitimacy as one of the nation's top programs were answered Saturday night as they traveled to Florida to take on traditional national powerhouse IMG Academy (FL). IMG won 44-42 but only did so after connecting on a 47-yard field goal as time expired.
4. Grimsley (Greensboro, NC)
Record: 6-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, at Ragsdale (NC), 7 p.m. ET
As expected, the Whirlies got everything they could handle and then some as they traveled to Virginia and left the state with a 24-17 overtime win over Varina (VA). Grimsley trailed in the fourth quarter but rallied to tie the game, send it to overtime, score first and then get a huge defensive stand to extend its winning streak to 37 games.
5. St. John’s (DC)
Record: 5-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 16, at Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD), 7 p.m. ET
For the fifth time this season, the Cadets played an out-of-state opponent and they once again came out on top, avenging last week's one-point loss. This week, they were involved in another dogfight but this time picked up the win as they beat Cornerstone Christian (TX) 35-28.
6. Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA)
Record: 6-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. North Allegheny (PA), 7 p.m. ET
The Vikings have continually gotten better offensively each week but this week they matched their output from last week scoring-wise. That's just fine though as they once again picked up a 62-0 win, this time beating Mt. Lebanon (PA).
7. Providence Day (Charlotte, NC)
Record: 5-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Ambassador Christian School (NC), 7 p.m. ET
The Chargers were off last week.
8. Iona Prep (New Rochelle, NY)
Record: 5-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, at Cardinal Hayes (NY), 7 p.m. ET
The top team in New York once again played like the top team in the state Saturday afternoon. With a 49-0 win over St. Anthony's, the Gaels picked up their biggest win of the season so far.
9. Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, PA)
Record: 3-2
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 10, vs. Cardinal O’Hara (PA), 1 p.m. ET
Make it three straight wins for the Cahillite now after they dropped their first two games of the year. Two of those three wins haven't been easy though, including Friday night's 14-7 win over Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic (PA).
10. Bergen Catholic (Oradell, NJ)
Record: 3-2
Next game: Saturday, Oct. 10, vs. Paramus Catholic NJ), 1 p.m. ET
In New Jersey's premier rivalry game, it was the Crusaders who got some revenge against what was the state's top team entering last week. Class of 2028 Oklahoma quarterback commit Trey Tagliaferri was the hero in their 34-30 win over Don Bosco, throwing for 340 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-winner from 28 yards out with 15 seconds remaining.
11. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ)
Record: 5-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 16, vs. DePaul Catholic (NJ), 7 p.m. ET
Through three quarters of play, it looked like the Ironmen were well on their way to another win. However, they got outscored 20-6 in the fourth quarter, suffering their first loss of the season.
12. DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD)
Record: 5-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD), 7 p.m. ET
The Stags have turned a corner since their Week 3 loss to Roman Catholic, winning their last three games by 16 points or more. Friday night was their best performance of the season as they crushed Mt. Zion Prep Academy (MD) 42-6.
13. Weddington (Matthews, NC)
Record: 7-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, vs. Cuthbertson (NC), 7 p.m. ET
Once again, the Warriors put together a complete game in all phases of the game. After shutting out Sun Valley (NC) 42-0 last week and beating Charlotte Catholic (NC) 37-7 the week before, they made it seven wins in a row Friday night with a 42-3 win over Marvin Ridge (NC) 42-3.
14. Varina (Richmond, VA)
Record: 4-1-1
Next game: Friday, Oct. 16, at Hanover (VA), 7 p.m. ET
The Blue Devils had the Whirlies on the brink with 3:21 remaining but gave up the game-tying touchdown with 59 seconds remaining. Down seven in overtime, they had to go for it on fourth down from the 2-yard line but their screen pass was stopped, giving Grimsley the win.
15. Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury, MA)
Record: 4-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, at Malden Catholic (MA), 6 p.m. ET
The Knights continue to get better defensively week-to-week and last Friday's game was that unit at their best. While the offense continued to roll, the defensive unit limited Brockton to only a field goal at Catholic Memorial rolled to a 35-3 win.
