Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford is one of the biggest storylines surrounding the 2026 college football season.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, Kiffin and the No. 7 LSU Tigers make the trip up to No. 8 Ole Miss for a massive top 10 showdown that is expected to be one of the most hostile environments in recent memory.
Will Kiffin be in Oxford before Saturday though? That's a question that's on everyone's mind but with his son Knox Kiffinset to play this third game of his junior season Friday night, Kiffin's return Oxford may not come until gameday.
Knox, a 2028 three-star quarterback at University Lab (LA), will be on the road Friday night as the Cubs travel to nearby Plaquemine (LA). The schools are separated by 20 minutes with Plaquemine 14 miles southwest
of Baton Rouge.
Friday night's matchup is a massive one for Knox and the Cubs as they look to win their first game of the season.
They opened the season at home against 4-star Georgia QB commit Colton Nussmeier and Archbishop Rummel (LA) losing that game 34-28. Last week, they were involved in another high-scoring affair but could not keep up with Madison Prep Academy (LA), losing 38-21.
Plaquemine enters the matchup at 1-1. The Green Devils opened the year with a 21-16 win over Zachary (LA) but were blown out by West Monroe (LA) 51-8 last week.
This will be just the third meeting all-time between the schools. Plaquemine is 2-0 in the series, but they have not played since 1967.
